I had posted a process question to the MFTCI forums, asking about bushing installation. A generous MFTCI member offered to give me another P160 that he had laying in his shed. It arrived a couple days ago. Compare the condition of it, to the other. The pin holes are indeed significantly better. My concern is the center race, which is pretty pitted. I think what I will do is follow the process to install the bushings. If I mess up the process, and thereby the original P160, I will have this one. I did appreciate this fellows participation in getting the project on the road!
This illustrates the slippery slope of owning a Ruckstell. This part new is about $200 bucks. The danger is that you spend almost that much reconditioning, remachining parts that you could otherwise buy new. I will take a shot at the other P160. But in Milling bits, bushings, and new pins, I have already exceeded $50 expense.
