The engine had been run at least a bit, as it had some grease at the normal leak spots. I put old plugs into the head, then sprayed it with Purple Power, let that soak. The took a bucket of hot water and SOS pads and started scrubbing. Turned the engine a pretty soapy blue. Then went back with clean hot water and a rag. THEN wiped it down with acetone, as well as sprayed the really tight spots with electrical degreaser.
